Well the summer seems to be officially over. I swore I wouldnt wear my Ugg boots till at least October but I must admit to having put the heating on yesterday.
This quilt is a bit like the English weather here - deceiving! It may look summery bu I've used 100% wool as the wadding. I wanted the loftiness of the last quilt I made but without it being a polyester. Its comfortable, light and warm but without getting you sweaty. Perfect for winter.
Its completly hand quilted using pearle cotton. I'm particularly proud of the binding. I really dislike the look of machine binding, so have perfected my hand stitches and they are getting much better as a result.
I've had these fabrics collected together for a while and I was just trying to find the last colour to complete it and the perfect pattern.
Then I stumbled across cluck cluck sew and there it was staring at me in the face!, the last colour to complete the set - robin egg blue together with a lovely kaliedescope quilt pattern AND I had the bonus of vertually seeing what it would look like because, as luck would have it, Allison has a her header picture with her version using very similar fabrics, so thanks Allison for putting my puzzle together for me!
Jacobs delighted, well, about as delighted as a 3 year old gets when you make him a quilt, and he will stay nice and toasty on those cold winter nights.
It's lovely - I love the stripe for the binding!
