Here is another one of my finished projects. I just love Kellies patterns and simply had to make this into a double sized quilt for the guest room. I would have had it for my own bedroom but a superking sized quilt, I felt, was a little to ambitious for my skills. No matter how hard I try I just cant free motion to a high enough standard so I decided to stick with one inch lines for the background. It gives the quilt a wonderful crinkled look and its the first time I have made what I would call a "proper" quilt i.e quilted through to the back rather then add a seperate backing which is what I did with previous quilts.
I probably could have added a border but I didnt want to detract attention from the tree and this gives the room a lovely focal point yet dosnt make my head spin with busy patterns.
Hope your all having a lovely sunny day, its nice weather here (for once!) xx
Wow, that is gorgeous, ho on earth did you manage to do the tree, its beautiful xx
ReplyDeleteThankyou rufusdog, the trunk and branches were done by raw edge applique and the leaves were using turned edge applique and then hand sewn on, the pictures dont do it justice, the finish is a lot smoother in real life and they edges dont look as jagged! I plan on designing a quilt myself using these methods but this was a great way to practice the techniques.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, so very sweet. You should be very proud.
