FREE Ironing Board cover tutorial link

How exiting, I have my first 5 blog members overnight! Well I will try not to disappoint. I made this ironing board cover in the school holidays. The tutorial can be found here.

My ironing board needed major modification!. I got my husband to saw off the iron rest as I just dont use it and the cord from my iron kept getting caught in the gap between the iron rest and the board. The removal of this made the ironing board much lighter which I was pleased about as its quite large. I also got him to put some mdf on top of the wire mesh because I cant stand it when the shape of the mesh comes through onto whatever im ironing, and the wadding on its own just wasnt enough to prevent this from happening. Its so much better now but please note if you choose to use this tutorial and like to use a lot of padding, a 2cm seam allowance just isnt enough. It took A LOT of pulling and holding with the two of us to get it on!. I would recommend 2 inches just to be on the safe side.

Ooo look what I got in the post today:

Feet! Russell from sewing machines Direct was really helpful in helping me choose what feet I needed when I told him what projects interested me. He was great because he was honest and told me which feet were more popular for visability/compatible with my machine and also told me what feet I could make do with, with the pros and cons of each one. I would really recommend this company, so check them out here.

I've been saving all of my pennys to begin my journey into the wonderful world of quilting. Im going to ease myself in gently and begin with a pillow. Im not going to start on patchwork just yet as I'd really like to try some applique, so its going to be a combination of applique and free motion quilting. Im nervous, have I bitten off more then I can chew? I guess only time (and a lot of practice) can tell....
